SpaceX was founded by serial entrepreneur Elon Musk in 2002 with the mission of making life multi-planetary. Based in California, U.S., the company manufactures rockets and spacecraft aimed at making affordable spaceflight a reality. SpaceX is known for being the first private company to launch and return a spacecraft from Earth’s orbit and the first to launch a crewed spacecraft and dock it to the International Space Station (ISS). Its reusable rockets and launch systems considerably cut space flight costs as compared to other players in the industry. The company has further cemented its credibility by gaining multiple contracts from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the U.S. Air Force. 

 

SpaceX is also a provider of Internet services through its Starlink Satellite Internet Program. Starlink is engineered by SpaceX to provide internet access to remote parts of the world where high-speed internet broadband isn’t readily available. SpaceX is backed by major investors such as NASA, Alphabet, D1 Capital Partners, T.Rowe Price and many more.
